What is the deal with iTunes’ regional availability? This something that I feel, as an American, shouldn’t be a problem in my life. I don’t live in North Korea where multimedia is censored; I live in the land of the free.
Here is the situation – I I finally found a song that has been stuck in my head for like a month and when I click the “Buy” link on Soundcloud I receive this message from iTunes: “The item you have requested is not currently available in the U.S. store”. Why? This makes me wonder where it is available and why it is not available in the U.S. store. I am now very curious about what other songs are “not currently available” and what another country’s iTunes store is like. I can’t change my country in my account settings either so I am left without a legal way of acquiring this remix I need.
I am imagining that this song is available only in Bulgaria and if I switch my account to make Bulgaria my country I will discover that their iTunes is totally different and filled with all kinds of exclusive electronic music that is being kept from the rest of the world, or at least America. Okay, not really, but these exclusionary practices by iTunes seem very unfair and wrong. Anyway, here is the song I want to purchase so I use can the HQ file in my set.
